Day 7 - A Question of Time

Today, I said, I will go outside.
Today, I will enjoy a walk.
No nap, no work, just fun and sun.
Today, we had a talk.

Tomorrow, I said, will come too soon.
Tomorrow, I’ll have to live.
For now, pretend, no obligations, no rules.
Tomorrow, tomorrow I will give.

Yesterday, I said, enjoy the day.
Yesterday, I fumbled through.
Eyes closed to the world, no attention.
Yesterday: where did you go?

Day 6 - Say Goodbye

It's time to say goodbye, my friend
It's time for me to go
I'm sick of this place, I'm feeling stuck
I'm really feeling low

It's time to say goodbye, my dear
I have to become my best
I can see the changes happening now,
Let's put this me to rest

It's time to say goodbye, myself
It's time to act, not dwell
The hard work is paying off now,
And so, to you, Farewell!

A cinquain of cinquains

Today's prompt is to write a cinquain. I tried to stick as close to the traditional cinquain rules as possible, but I think I bent them on a couple.

The last
Day of my life
Will be the happiest
For I will be returning to
My home

Click clack
Needles clash, yarn
Running over and under
Creating a fabric, a frock
Click clack

Dark days
With darker nights
Bumps in the dark jumping
Out from corners, make me yearn for
Nightlights

Candy
Canes And candy
Houses, frosted with snow
Tipped gumdrops lining the streets of
Santa’s town

Splish splash
In sidewalk
Puddles, waves rippling out
To ashphalt shores, soaking the air with
Spring scent

Jaundiced Outlook -- Day 4

you should look at the world through rose-coloured glasses
they say
look on the brighter side
I don’t want to wear rose-coloured glasses or
wear sunglasses to keep out the light
red is the color of love
they say; I think red is the color of hate
why not look at the world through sunny-side-up-
side down glasses          coloured yellow, coloured
happy.  I don’t want a rosy outlook on life, I want
a jaundiced outlook, a happy
outlook

Day Three

Posting super late, but I did have this done yesterday I swear!! It was very fitting to how I feel (now, and usually) with things, I always tend to self-sabotage and fail at things because I don't think I can do it -- it's so much easier if I'm the reason I fail from not trying, than from trying.

i can't keep on this road
this road to destruction
destroying     my self
                      my  thought
                                      my   soul-
wrenching decisions to change, to leap, to
g
row, so hard to make so hard
to follow
to follow through on
to fall - oh, to fall into a better state
a better life
a better
   me

Day 2

Today's prompt was to write a story about a lie.

The biggest lie you can tell your child
Is that Santa isn’t real
Elves don’t exist, reindeer don’t fly
Christmas is but a meal

The biggest lie you can tell your Mom
Is that you’ll never be alike
You’ll gain all her traits, and wisdom too
Even though you don’t realize it, as a tyke.

The biggest lie you can tell your friend
Is that you’ll always stay in touch
You will move, she will too
But you’ll love each other just as much.

The biggest lie you can tell yourself
Is that Santa was never there
His giving spirit is in all of us
It’s the reason that you care

NaPoWriMo Day 1

Almost forgot today's the day we start NaPo!! This is my first year doing NaPo (I've (unsuccessfully) done NaNo 3 times now), and I'm looking forward to being successful with this one. I haven't written very many poems in years past, so there might be some rusty poems here but I promise to publish each poem on here, whether I think it's very good or not. I'll let you be the judge on that :)

Most days my poems will probably go up just after midnight, but I'll try very hard to post every day.  Today's prompt was to take the first line of a favourite poem and write your own poem with it, or use one of the first lines given:Walter de la Mar's Silver jumped out at me, so I went with it.

Slowly, silently, now the moon
sleeps. Longer days and shorter nights
Bring the sun smiling down on kids in the park, bears
on the paths -- too icy to travel.

Slowly, silently, now the snow
falls. Nature’s giant April Fool’s prank:
Spring is here, summer soon
to follow -- rain is on the way.

Slowly, silently, now the moon
sleeps.

Happy writing fellow NaPo's!
